Staking & Redelegation Bonus

The staking bonus rewards users who actively participate in network security by staking LYTH and redelegating across multiple validators. This mechanic proves genuine engagement and strengthens decentralization by distributing stake more evenly.

How to Stake LYTH

Staking requires a Cosmos-compatible wallet. MetaMask cannot perform staking operations.

Prerequisites

RequirementDetail
WalletMonolythium Browser Wallet, Keplr, or Leap
NetworkTestnet (Chain ID: mono_6940-1)
LYTH balanceEnough to stake plus a small amount for transaction fees

Staking Steps

  1. Open your Cosmos wallet and navigate to the staking section
  2. Browse the validator list -- look for uptime, commission rate, and self-delegation
  3. Select a validator and enter the amount to delegate
  4. Confirm the transaction
  5. Your stake becomes active in the next block and starts earning rewards immediately
# CLI alternative
monod tx staking delegate <validator-address> <amount>alyth \
--from <your-key> \
--chain-id mono_6940-1

See Staking Overview for full staking documentation.

Redelegation Mechanic

The redelegation bonus requires you to redelegate your stake through multiple validators over time. This sequence proves you are actively managing your delegation rather than staking once and forgetting.

The Redelegation Path

Second redelegationRedelegate from B to Validator CAfter 30+ days on B+10 LYTH
Sustained delegationMaintain 3+ active delegations for 60+ days60+ days+25 LYTH

Why Redelegation Matters

Redelegation proves several things about a participant:

  1. Active management -- You are reviewing and choosing validators, not just staking and leaving
  2. Decentralization -- Moving stake across validators distributes voting power more evenly
  3. Network awareness -- You understand how Delegated Proof-of-Stake works
  4. Long-term commitment -- The time requirements demonstrate sustained participation

Bonus Rewards

Milestone Bonuses

MilestoneRequirementReward
First redelegationRedelegate after 7+ days+5 LYTH
Second redelegationRedelegate after 30+ days+10 LYTH
Sustained multi-delegation3+ validators for 60+ days+25 LYTH
Maximum total bonus+40 LYTH

Bonuses are claimable on the Campaign Dashboard once each milestone is verified.

Staking Multiplier

Rewards that are restaked within 48 hours of being claimed receive a 1.5x multiplier:

Example:
You claim 10 LYTH in quest rewards
You restake 10 LYTH within 48 hours
Your effective reward contribution = 10 x 1.5 = 15 LYTH (for airdrop allocation calculation)

The multiplier applies to:

  • Quest phase rewards (Phases 1-5)
  • Referral milestone bonuses
  • Staking redelegation bonuses

The multiplier does not apply to:

  • MonoPump Season prizes
  • Standard staking inflation rewards
  • Referral fee share earnings
Maximize Your Multiplier

Claim your rewards and redelegate or delegate the LYTH within 48 hours to ensure the 1.5x multiplier is applied. The 48-hour window starts from the block where the reward claim transaction is confirmed.

Redelegation Rules

Redelegation on Monolythium follows Cosmos SDK staking rules:

RuleDetail
Cooldown3 days before the same tokens can be redelegated again
Immediate effectStake is active on the new validator in the next block
Rewards continuityNo gap in reward earning during redelegation
Max per pair7 active redelegations per source-destination pair
PartialYou can redelegate a portion of your stake
Example timeline:
Day 0: Delegate 100 LYTH to Validator A
Day 7: Redelegate 100 LYTH from A to B --> +5 LYTH bonus
Day 10: Cannot redelegate B tokens yet --> 3-day cooldown
Day 11: Cooldown expires, but wait for Day 37+ for next bonus
Day 37: Redelegate 100 LYTH from B to C --> +10 LYTH bonus

See Redelegation for the full technical documentation.

Validator Selection Tips

Choosing validators wisely maximizes your staking returns and supports network health.

What to Look For

FactorWhy It MattersWhere to Check
Commission rateLower commission = higher net rewardsValidator list on MonoHub or Keplr
UptimeDowntime causes slashing (0.01%) and missed rewardsMonoscan validator page
Self-delegationHigher self-delegation = more skin in the gameValidator details
Voting participationActive governance voters are more reliableGovernance proposal history
Infrastructure diversitySpread across providers and regionsValidator description / community

Validator Selection Strategy for Bonus

Since the redelegation bonus requires delegating to 3+ different validators:

  1. Start with a mid-tier validator -- Good uptime, reasonable commission, not in the top 5 by stake
  2. Redelegate to a smaller validator -- Helps decentralization and often has lower commission
  3. Third delegation to a different region -- Geographic diversity strengthens the network
Stake Splitting

You can delegate to multiple validators simultaneously from the start. However, the redelegation bonus specifically requires the act of redelegating (moving stake between validators), not just splitting initial delegations.

FAQ

Can I unbond and redelegate to get the bonus?

No. Unbonding and re-delegating is a different operation from redelegating. The bonus requires using the redelegate transaction type, which moves stake directly between validators without an unbonding period.

Does the 1.5x multiplier apply to the staking bonus itself?

Yes, if you restake the bonus LYTH within 48 hours of claiming it.

What if my validator gets jailed?

You can redelegate away from a jailed validator immediately. If the jailing happens before you meet the time requirement for a milestone, the time on that validator still counts -- redelegate as soon as possible to minimize missed rewards.

Can I split my stake across 3 validators from the start?

Splitting your initial delegation does not count toward the redelegation bonus. You must perform actual redelegation transactions (moving stake from one validator to another) to qualify.

Does the 7-day and 30-day requirement reset if I add more stake?

No. Adding additional stake to an existing delegation does not reset the timer. The timer is based on the initial delegation or redelegation block timestamp.
